ahh, good. glad it's not just around here. and it's definitely not at him, just around him. I think I've cursed at him once and that was when he was about a foot and a half from being run over by a huge 4 door pickup because he wriggled out of my grasp and took off. and that was only because he scared the hell out of me.
To be honest, I have sworn at my son a couple of times when I was REALLY pissed off. I am not one to lose my temper. It takes a lot to set me off. I mean, a lot.

But, like all kids, mine figured out where the really big hot buttons were and pushed them when he was little and out popped the word Fuck at him more than once.

He has stopped doing that as a teenager because if you get me that mad, I will lay down the law and enact serious consequences and he wants to avoid those at all cost. I'm fucking mean as hell if I have to be, and he never wants to see that side of me. (I'm not scary, I'm not going to hurt him, I just have a lot of education in psychology and I know how to make a consequence really, really mentally painful in a non-abusive way, lol.)

Oh sorry, I dind't know it was a hard topic here. My B!
It's just one of those things that can easily devolve into political discussion. It's not completely against the rules (there is even a gun thread somewhere in the General Discussion forum IIRC), but I do think it is a little sensitive of a subject for the mid-day work thread.

man, I hope I learn that skill soon. My kiddo is definitely in the button-pushing phase. Most of the time he just grins at me when I'm telling/yelling at him to stop something. The other times, I put him in timeout or swat his butt and he acts like the world is ending, but he's right back to button pushing as soon as I walk away. it's infuriating.

I'm with you but it's easier said than done when you realize you may be placing a baby in harms way because your daughter won't be done with him...like I said she's dependent she won't be single it's not in her DNA.

I literally have to know before I do anything if I get rid of him her and her baby go to.
But that's the thing though..Life is full of tough decisions and to help her in the long run..you have to put up boundaries and put your foot down or you are enabling this behavior. She will make her own choices and sometimes you have to let them fall..And frankly if he ever hurts the baby- it would be something you need to report- As I am sure your daughter wouldn't let that happen- I have been in abusive relationships before- As with most of us- you can't always tell us- it's something we have to learn on our own- It's a part of growing up- You fall- you either keep doing it or you learn from it-

I totally understand why you are torn- a lot of families encounter this issues sadly- But he is behaving like a narcissistic- And the only thing you can do with those people is put your foot down and don't move it- It is like dealing with a toddler who is learning- except most narcissists and people like this who are very abusive don't change..Some do- I hope it gets better-

Sorry! I see what you're saying. I'll keep that in mind.

He's basically like this really big dumbass kid that won't listen to anyone and then proceeds to think he's a badass that knows everything...

we had leftovers :o Some lady that lives near SIL has a whooooole bunch of vegetables and gives them to SIL who doesn't eat them. I'll eat ALL the vegetables. She's bringing okra next week and MIL makes the best fried okra (she makes it with hushpuppy stuff)

I need more vegetables in my life.
