When I used to go out for halloween, 90% of the time I was a waitress since I always worked that night.
Did go as Edina with a friend who was Patsy one year. That was fun.

The last time I remember going house-to-house on Halloween was in 1954. Disney's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" had just hit the theaters. I collected candy, and "monies" for UNICEF.(the The United Nations Children's Fund). ... House-to-house with no accompaniment by adults.

A three-minute trailer for "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. The "terrifying battle with the giant squid" starts at 2:30. Technicolor is always impressive. Great flick; great cast. If you watch it, do so "full screen." If not ....... it's no skin off Kirk Douglas's nose.

Fun fact: there's a disease called Fatal Familial Insomnia where the patients can't go to sleep, or can't fall deeply asleep, at all. It's extremely rare but once it manifests itself around middle age, the people who have it can sometimes go months without any kind of sleep and eventually die.
