I'm confused. There's dogs of every size in shelters everywhere

I've adopted from the shelter here twice. They both times assured me of their breed and they'd be small dogs, no larger than 10 lbs. My second one got to be 85 lbs. I also live in the most moronic part of the country, where most people that work at places are the biggest idiots ever.

I get what you're saying, but fully grown dogs are still young, easily trainable and get very attached. The only reason they'd be wrong on weight guesses is because they're mixed breeds, and all shelters get purebreds (even pups) somewhat regularly.
