11/16 - Foreshadowing Friday!

I almost didn't say anything, but FO76 kind of bothers me only because it takes a franchise I've played a lot in a direction that's popular for the moment (largely because it's cheaper to make) and I have zero interest in. PVP bores the crap out of me, I'm big into lots of story and NPCs, and one of my least favorite things about Fallout is the "you come upon a scene where someone needs a rescue but you're too late, they're dead" meme, which is repeated hundreds of times in Fallout 4, and apparently is almost every subplot in FO76.

Also, I have like 240 mods in FO4 because the vanilla game is kind of crap, and that's kind of like Skyrim or FO3. I live for mods.

Also, one of the 73 things I dislike about MMOs is meeting someone on a quest who is named ButtWrangle

I just wanna play Fallout with Fiance, and this is the only way we can. If they made a coop copy of fallout 4 iwould die of happiness.

YES! Playing with my husband is like a dream come true. We've played almost every Fallout side by side, so being TOGETHER in it is just like... the coolest thing.

I'm not 100% happy with it, and I don't think it's a replacement for a standalone FO game, but I think it's a heck of a placeholder until we get another game engine or something that would change things up. And hopefully a new direction with the games.

...cool, so what I'm hearing is I'm good focusing on ESO events and dinking around in Destiny 2 (which certainly also has its issues, but which was just a free download) with buddies. Thanks guys

There was a post-apoc MMO, though I forget the name at the moment. MMOs are your best bet, despite their (massive) annoyances.

Someone did a working coop mod for Morrowind (actually a whole new core engine), and there was an attempt at that for Skyrim.

Bugthesda's not going to do it until they get a new engine. People talk about that all the time, but engines like Unity or Unreal can't do half of what they need for their games, so I get their dilemma.

I tried to get back into ESO, but arrived too late for the Halloween event, which sets up a huge prize if you do like all three of the events this winter. SO I can't get the prize. Kind of discouraging.

Also, like most MMOs, the beginning of the game is the best, then the mandatory grind/group stuff kicks in and it's a drag.

Man, Angela Listy is *really* bad at describing who she wants in a survey. I get DQ'ed like 3/4 of the time, and I only pick the ones to try that seem like a good match.

I hate MMOs too, but I play with friends sometimes, and some of them have decent single-player experiences (though some of them, like Cryptic/PW games, have degraded the SP experience somewhat).

Everybody's talking about gaming. I was so mad with the new CoD I haven't played it since like the week it dropped. I need to find a new game. I spent $100 on the pre order and played maybe 6 or 7 matches. For the past 5 years all I have played is CoD and Just Dance with my kids.

I did buy Final Fantasy XV but I never had enough time to just sit and play so it collected dust, along with Tom Clancy, Battlefield 3, One, and Hardline, some version of Need for Speed, a couple of versions of couple of Assasins Creed games, and a few others...

I may like buying video games more than playing them now... I guess I'm old.

EDIT: my daughter plays most of them so not a total waste

Well, you can eventually - any event tickets you don't use right now carry over to the next group of events, which I think are in the summer - but yeah, I get being discouraged by that. (I probably shouldn't tell you about the Summerset event that was just in September or so, huh?)

That's as may be, and once I get there I'll probably wander off to other games. However, I've been playing for 7 months now and it's only been with the Halloween event's XP boosts that I've even got *one* character anywhere remotely near endgame-level. There's still so much questline I haven't done, still like six areas I haven't even been to yet, never mind the DLC questlines...
It works for me, and it's a bonus that it's (as MMOs go) so cheap. Sorry it was a drag for you.
