That's just completely incorrect. Yes, you can get an entry level job in the field without a degree, based entirely around your talent. Above that is very limited without the piece of paper.

Well if you are a doctor or a lawyer, you legally NEED a degree. If we're just talking about web development, I know plenty of web developers in well paying jobs that don't have degrees however. The biggest and hardest lesson I ever learned in life is that my degree isn't shit without relevant experience. Bill gates was a harvard DROPOUT. Even though Bill gates doesn't need a job right now, if he went to ANY computer company for a programming position, who gets the job? Bill Gates, or a guy with a degree from harvard?

Bill gates gets it because of everything he has done. Experience wins everytime
