Where about? My family is from Detroit (before it turned to sh!t), grandmother used to live in Dearborn Heights - again - before it turned to sh!t

Merrill, between Saginaw and Alma.

Here in the Saginaw Valley we average 35 inches of snow per winter. Our heating bill in a 'normal' winter is between $150 and $200 per month. This year we've only gotten 23 inches of snow and it is 55 and sunny outside right now.

The winters are normally a grind, though. Definitely looking forward to retiring to Myrtle Beach in a decade or two.

Man I have never payed more than $500 a month in rent for various nice pads across Chicago and Phoenix. Granted that's usually with roommates or a girlfriend but some of you guys are making me feel lucky.

Aren't the business taxes insane in Michigan? When I was there, I had to check into paying taxes if I wanted to work while I was there and it seemed crazy high.

Car insurance specifically in Wayne County (Metro Detroit) is insanely high. When I moved, my car insurance dropped by around 35%.
