I guess there is no way to prevent it so I guess I will just have to continually confront people. ah, well.

You could also just ignore it (it's hard). It irritates the crap out of people when you ignore them. I'm German and grew up being called Kraut, Nazi, jew-killer, etc. Some horrible shit - my mother emigrated to escape the hell that the Nazis left Germany in. I finally just "didn't hear" anything that included those phrases, did not respond to "Hey, Nazi!" or anything else except my name -- they finally got the hint. ..... so, being white doesn't really solve the problem, either..... All Nazis were German but not all Germans are Nazis.

I may not be a super mega fan, but as someone who has watched each episode from all the seasons, it gets interesting when you get closer to the 5th to 6th season. The storyline of the Leviathans (season 7) was really good to me. But that's just me. I found that around the end of season 3 into season 4 it was kind of dry, but began to pick up after Castiel and the storyline surrounding him and the angels appeared. Then it kind of dries up once you get closer to the 11th season. Supernatural has its moments but is rather fun to binge watch on Netflix.

But someone else could offer better insight than me.
