I bet if you had to pass a test to make an mturk account the quality of HIT submissions would improve and pay wouldn't constantly be decreased.
what kind of test?

The sense of entitlement with a lot of workers on mturk is already bad enough as it is. Could you imagine if workers actually had to pay to be here? It would be an even bigger shit show than it currently is when someone gets a rejection, or a block, or doesn't get a qual, or whatever.

This post was so good, I might delete that screen shot I bookmarked the other night.

There are some requesters (esp from big name university and departments) that are getting their research funded from and because of the valuable data that (most) of us provide. Paying a fee defeats the purpose of a platform like this imo and I don't know about anyone else but i wouldnt be paying (however small the fee is) to do other peoples work or push out data for people getting paid. On the flip side, Amazon fees for requesters are already ridiculous
I feel bad for the requesters. I do hope there is more competition in the future. I don't see any survey sites as good as mturk right now.

Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk,

You've received a bonus from Rebecca Morton for work related to 3TRB893CSJ18FUO9FM2ZZL2GKMU7G6.
The value of your bonus is: $8.91 USD

The Requester included this note:
No comment provided by Requester.

Thanks for being a Worker on Mechanical Turk!

From a survey on 10/29 according to my db. I like surprise bonuses, I try to forget about them for that reason lol.

Just got the email for the 3rd sg hit. I really don't feel like doing it, but I'm gonna do it anyways.

better than have a group of people in a room, they can't give them nasty comments then deny a .50 cent payment. They couldn't even get a person to give information for 50 cents irl

You can turn them off under preferences, then you just get a link instead which you can click on or not.
I did turn them off, but thanks for helping. I was replying to someone who suggested inserting them into MY posts to make my questions more noticeable.

We would hate it but amazon could sell a few ads. Not cover the page like Facebook is doing to destroy itself but it they need money to support the forum, sell a few ads unless my adblocker is blocking them but most things seem to need to ask me to disable adblocker to work on them.
